20 days after and I finally have a post since my last post. And here it goes..
December 17, 2011 will be a marker of history in the Cities of Cagayan de Oro & Iligan. The 'Great' flood, as I term it now has swept both cities and other reported places where the Storm Sendong (Washi, its International name) trailed upon. Lives of a staggering 1, 000 are reported lost, 10, 000 families displaced and reaching 1, 000 still missing as of today. Innocent children lost and orphaned and missing, be it rich and poor, all are affected. For us, the goodness, mercy, grace of God saved us from that tragic experience but still affected, though. Thank God it was just waist-level outside the house and ankle-level inside the house. Thankfully, our house was slightly elevated that is why. Compared to what happened last January 2009, where flood also swept in our city, we were not reached by the waters. But now, it was indeed a different scenario and expectation.Whose to blame? News in all medium, be it radio, television, the net and all have so many different opinions about whose to point a finger to. What factors were considered on why a Signal No. 2, one-day typhoon could instantly create a flash flood and fill the affected homes and kill people in just 20-30 minutes.
Recuperation. It has been 1 week and 1 day now after the historical event of CDO's lifetime. Electricity has been established in our home and to some and some, not yet. Water is the height of the need right now because the water pipelines are still being repaired due to its being displaced and submerged by the murky muddy waters. Relief Operations are the center of the action. Help is evident in all forms and from all places. Cagayan de Oro is now almost a household name locally, national and international.
Moving On. Life must go on. And it must. Memories of good will be cherished. Heroism will be acknowledged and the tragedy be left in this year 2011. It will be remembered as to having a great learning imprinted in the hearts and minds whatever we sow, we shall reap. Sow urbanization, treeless and weakened mother nature, unpreparedness and reluctance then we shall reap havoc and put people in the brink of life and death.
HEAL OUR LAND, OH LORD. THIS IS OUR CRY.

I'm so sorry this happened. I still pray for everyone affected by the flood. Lift everything to Him and He will provide for you. I hope that despite everything, you still were able to find the joy in the new year.
Dropping by from bc bloggers.
