Flu alert 101

Ugh! Now I'm infected again. The three classical signs that an impending cold is coming:

(1) Sore throat.
(2) Runny and congested nose.
(3) Spontaneous Sneezing.

And when it is not intervened, it levels up to having the flu = a combination of Fever+Body fatigue+Headache+Cough and Runny, congested nose.

It's a check and balance that my body's immune system's status ain't that good and steady. Should I blame this to the weather? (It's like everyday is raining, at some point it rains cats and dogs!)

Again, I'm back to increased hydration (1 liter ain't enough/day). So if you're like me right now, aside from increasing your fluids, it's time to get back on track on your vitamin C's (huhuhu, I stopped taking mine that's why!).

And one basic intervention to do? REST. Yeah. No matter how many tablets of vitamin C's you dig in and overload yourself with fluids, if rest isn't there, then its worthless. Rest is one way the body compensates to fight back the infection (Fever is one Normal compensation unless it perseveres that's when you consult your doctor when it is constantly high). Fever is also the process by which it manages the opportunistic infection you have their by increasing your body's temperature. FYI: Some organism that make you sick cannot thrive in high temperatures. And so, that's why you shiver when you have a fever because the body is constantly helping speeding up metabolism, thus increasing body temperature.
Thank God I haven't reached this stage yet! It's not easy getting sick these days!

One thing to note though, do not rely so much in taking medications even for just a simple slight fever or what. It is still best to first have the 'independent interventions' (as we term it in nursing) wherein medication is a last resort.

1. Drink liberal fluids (water is advised but not limited to, soft drinks can wait!).
2. Do yourself a Sponge bath or a TSB. Tepid Sponge Bath.
3. Eat fruits and food rich in vitamin C.Your body needs a boost-up.
4. Rest. :)

Whoa, I'm talking my language here. lol! Learned something? :)
